Two national experts will discuss research on public service privatization and labor management partnerships to improve efficiency.

 

Elliott Sclar is the director of the Columbia University Urban Planning Program. Dr. Sclar’s book You Don’t Always Get What You Pay For: The Economics of Privatization (Cornell University Press, 2000) won two major academic prizes, the Louis Brownlow Award for the Best Book of 2000 from the National Academy of Public Administration and the 2001 Charles Levine Prize from the International Political Science Association and Governance magazine for a major contribution to public policy literature.

Ellen Dannin is a professor of law at Wayne State University. Dr. Dannin’s recent papers include "One Person’s Red Tape is Another’s Accountability: Privatization, Publicization, and Public Values" and "Privatizing Information and Information Technology - Whose Life is it Anyway?"
