DEMONSTRATIONS

EVENT:  Stand Up for Immigrant Rights!

DESCRIPTION: Over the past few weeks, demonstrations of support for immigrants have swept across the country, with historic numbers of workers, students, people of faith and community leaders turning out in a variety of grassroots protests and rallies. Nearly one million of our brothers and sisters have taken to the streets to protest the threat to civil and human rights posed by the House immigration legislation.

These grassroots activities are escalating in number and size and will culminate in a massive mobilization/Day of Action on Monday, April 10th. The demonstrations on April 10th and in the following weeks will send a clear message to our elected leaders at all levels of government that immigration reform should be fair and just: and that all workers in this country MUST be treated with dignity and respect. This is an important fight for civil rights and economic and social justice for all working families in our country.
