Michael Smith: Staff Attorney of Worksafe; admitted in California (2007) and Iowa (1995); University of Iowa (J.D., 1995); University of Northern Iowa (B.A., 1992).
Mr. Smith has advocated for working men and women during his entire legal career. Prior to coming to Worksafe, he was a Field Attorney for the National Labor Relations Board in San Francisco and Portland from 2000 to 2006. At the NLRB, Mr. Smith successfully investigated and prosecuted unfair labor practices. Prior to working for the NLRB, Mr. Smith was a judicial clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Robert W. Pratt in the Southern District of Iowa from 1999 to 2000. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Smith represented unions and employees for Smith and McElwain Law Offices, an Iowa labor and employment law firm. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
