In 2014 and 2015, Worksafe convened four regional meetings across California with stakeholders to discuss occupational health and safety (“OSH”) based retaliation. During this process we learned about possible remedies, Safety Disincentive Programs, and worker campaigns around OSH retaliation.

Join us on June 29th along with other stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, unions, worker leaders, and advocates. We will share the findings and recommendations that came out of our Regional OSH anti-retaliation meetings, and strategize on how to improve working conditions and retaliation remedies for workers in California.

Why are we hosting a summit on addressing illegal employer retaliation?
In 2014, Worksafe launched an initiative to tackle the problem of illegal employer retaliation against workers who attempt to exercise their occupational safety and health (OSH) rights, such as reporting an injury, illness or hazard.

Worksafe, planned four regional meetings - Los Angeles, San Diego, Fresno, and San Mateo - kicking off in June 2014, to provide training on health and safety based retaliation, and to discuss the available resources and challenges faced by workers in several regions around the state.

Following the last of the four regional meetings on the issue of OSH (occupational safety and health) retaliation, we are convening a statewide summit to bring together those involved in the regional meetings, and others who are interested in solving this important problem facing workers who report injuries, illnesses, and hazardous working conditions.

At the summit, we are planning to present a summary of our findings and proposed solutions gathered from the four regional meetings, and to give attendees an opportunity to share their experiences, ideas, and challenges with others from around the state.

Please RSVP in advance as space is limited. To register, or if you have any questions, contact Jora Trang at (510) 302-1077 or jtrang at worksafe dot org.
