Please join us to celebrate 33 years of fighting for workers' lives on all fronts: on the shop floor and at the Capitol in Sacramento, through advocacy and education, and by spearheading innovative campaigns!

All proceeds from this event will support Worksafe's one-of-a-kind advocacy, education, and training programs.

This special event is also an opportunity to celebrate those who have proven their dedication to safe, healthy, and just work. This year, we are thrilled to recognize former California Assembly Member Nancy Skinner, The State Building and Construction Trades Council of California, and Ruth Silver Taube, 2015 recipient of the Frances Schreiberg Pro Bono Award.

The State Building and Construction Trades Council of California has provided critical leadership to advance health and safety through improving laws and standards, on-the-ground training throughout the state, and support for women in the trades. In the last year, we worked together to pass a bill, authored by Nancy Skinner, to end dangerous and unnecessary delays in fixing workplace hazards that Cal/OSHA finds during an inspection.

Honoree Nancy Skinner fought and won many other battles at the Capitol during her six years in the State Assembly, representing California’s 15th and then 14th State Assembly Districts. She is a leader who understands that workers’ rights are human rights, and that safe and healthy workplaces go hand-in-hand with safe and healthy communities, air, and water.

We are privileged to present the 2015 Frances Schreiberg Pro Bono Award to Ruth Silver Taube for her invaluable contributions to legal aid organizations that serve the most vulnerable working people of California. Ruth is an Adjunct Professor at Santa Clara University School of Law and serves as Special Counsel at the school’s Katherine & George Alexander Community Law Center and workers’ rights law clinic. At SCU, and in her role as Senior Staff Attorney with the Legal Aid Society - Employment Law Center, Ruth has mentored law students, trained attorneys, and provided legal counsel, serving thousands of people in need and advocates alike.

We hope that you will support Worksafe in building a future of safer, healthier, more just workplaces and join us in celebrating the contributions of our incredible honorees.
