WHAT: Bay Area Regional OSH Anti-retaliation Training & Discussion: Seeking Collaborative Solutions to Address Illegal Retaliation Against Workers Exercising Safety and Health Rights
WHEN: January 22, 2015  |  9:30-12:30 p.m.
WHERE: IBEW Local 617  |  1701 Leslie Street, San Mateo, CA

Worksafe invites you to a discussion about retaliation faced by workers when they report occupational health and safety (OSH) issues. The Bay Area meeting is the fourth regional meeting in California. The previous meetings were held in Los Angeles, Fresno, and San Diego.

Everywhere across the state workers face an environment in which their right to a healthy and safe workplace is being compromised by retaliatory employers or a hostile workplace culture that does not support the reporting of injuries, illness and safety hazards.

Unions, worker advocates, worker leaders, and legal aid attorneys are all invited to attend and participate in this strategic effort to brainstorm promising strategies to address OSH retaliation. The goal of the meetings is to provide information on the manner in which OSH retaliation occurs, current remedies to address retaliation, and to mobilize a growing group of workers and organizations to work together to build pressure for systemic change.

The meeting will include a training component and a group strategy session to brainstorm ways to address retaliation that is specific to the Bay Area.
